Prepare for Your Visit
A little prep, a smoother visit.
A few minutes ahead of time makes your visit calmer and more productive. Here is how to get set up, plus exactly what to bring for each kind of visit.

Start here: register and self check-in
After you book, you will get a confirmation and a secure self check-in link. Self check-in is required at least 24 hours before your visit, and you can do it from home on your own time. It is where you complete your forms, share your medical history, and confirm your appointment. For home visits, it is also where you review our home-safety information. Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a form of payment for your specialist copay. If you will not be using insurance, our self-pay price is $185 for a breastfeeding medicine couplet visit.
What to bring, by visit type
Feeding or breastfeeding medicine visit
- Bring your baby, plus any pump and flanges you use
- A list of your questions and concerns
- If you can, feed on your usual schedule so we can watch a typical feed
- Plan for a longer visit; we see mom and baby together and give it real time
Newborn first visit
- Bring your baby; come within one to two days of hospital discharge when you can
- We can often do newborn screening, a hearing screen, and a jaundice check in the same visit
- Plan time for feeding support and a postpartum check for mom
Quick jaundice check
- A short visit, about 15 minutes: a capillary blood draw and a brief assessment
- There is not much time for feeding work; if you want that, we will schedule a follow-up
- Results come back the same day by phone, so keep your phone handy and watch for our call, which may come from an unfamiliar number
Therapeutic ultrasound visit
- These visits are relatively short
- You do not need to bring your baby
Home visit
- We bring all the equipment to you
- Review the home-safety information during self check-in
- The same medical visit as in clinic, apart from procedures and lab draws, which we do in office
What to expect
- A visit with real time; we see mom and baby together
- A feeding observation, and a weighted feed when it’s helpful
- A clear explanation and a written plan you can actually follow
- Coordination with your pediatrician, OB, or midwife when needed
Ready when you are.
Book your visit and we’ll take it from there.
